There’s lots of talk within the advertising industry about how diversity is good for business. More developed thinking. Enhanced creativity. Increased effectiveness. All of which is most certainly true, and yet there are still far too many creative agencies not doing anything about it.
The Agency Circle, a non-profit industry body for creative agencies across Australia, was established in 2016 to turn diversity talk into action.
Member agencies commit to providing equal opportunities for all people at all levels, and then work independently to implement change via policies and practices for recruitment, retention, career progression, workplace flexibility, training and development.
“We seek diversity in the work we produce as well as the people who produce it. Our agencies can create communications that either support stereotypes or challenge them. This spotlight on Australian advertising is long overdue.”
– The Agency Circle
Creative agencies involved with The Agency Circle conduct an open and anonymous online survey with all employees to establish a legitimate and reflective position from which to improve. Topline findings averaged out across all participating agencies are also shared with the wider industry as impetus to create much needed change.
Is your workplace a member of The Agency Circle? If not, now’s the time to join.
